The 56' Cadillac: Dashboard Makeover

All I had was a rattle can... so I sanded and prepped as best I could.
My theory was it would be good rust protection until it could be done better.
But it turned out pretty good if  I do say so myself.

The original dash was in good shape so I just dyed it black with leather dye,
and slathered it in leather conditioner.

I spent a lot of time polishing the chrome.
Thank God they laid that stuff on thick back in the day.
It was 100% intact.
Over spray on your motorcycle?
I don't think that was me...

I stole an axle spacer from Paul's motorcycle parts bin
to make the housing for the new ignition switch. It fit perfectly!

It's hard to tell in the pictures, but it looks a lot better.

Viva Las Vegas 2011

We had a great time last year at Viva.
Not gonna make it in 2012, but these pictures are great inspiration.

Pin Ups.

If you've been following along, this motor should look familiar.

The Munster Coach.

It was a great day, I'd love to get back again.

The 56' Cadillac: Air Cleaner

It was covered in grease, so I cleaned it with degreaser,
then wire brushed it.  For a finish I clear coated the whole thing.
The cherry on top was a (not so Mother approved) decal.

The Ol' Man never tells me when I have dirt on my face.

Lucky for me the Ol' Man was able to find the bottom part that fit the
air cleaner and the new carb.

Vintage Photos: Christmas Morning

Just watched "A Christmas Story".
I love looking at the old decors & cars.
So I thought I'd share these oldies I found.

The 56' Cadillac: Under the Hood

Rip it apart, clean it, paint it slap it back on.
What?...

You've never steam cleaned your engine before?

Starting the tear down.

The manifold after clean up and paint.

It's staring to come back together.

New Edelbrock carb.

Rebuilt the generator, put the valve covers back on, new spark plugs/ wires, and a lot more cleaned up.

Water pump, fan, and new belts.

And what seemed like a 1000 ft of hose.
